Overview
Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Aquaculture

Sustainable management of wildlife and fisheries resources, conserving threatened species and critical habitats, and working with nature for societies well-being, requires a new generation of talented young professionals.

The Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture offers a bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree to train the next generation of natural resource professionals. A non-thesis online master's in conservation education is also available. In addition to training future wildlife and fisheries professionals, our faculty conduct robust research, training and outreach programs focused in the broad areas of wildlife and fisheries management, ecology, habitat management, conservation biology, environmental sciences, aquatic sciences, aquaculture, wildlife disease, human-wildlife interactions and zoology.

Students interested in managing and conserving biodiversity, ecosystems, habitats and threatened species along with developing potential solutions or advocacy should consider this concentration. Students enrolled in this concentration are encouraged to pursue an advanced degree.

Wildlife, Fisheries, & Aquaculture Science

Students interested in becoming wildlife or fisheries biologists, with primary responsibilities of studying the biology, behavior and habitats of animal populations in the wild, should consider this concentration. Students will often seek employment with state fish and wildlife agencies, federal agencies, or non-profit conservation organizations.
